WEDDINGS - NAMINGS - VOW RENEWALS - NEW BEGINNINGS
YOUR CEREMONY - YOUR WAY
why paper cranes?
The company name derives from family fun. Dad used to entertain us as kids by making origami cranes and creating stories about their adventures when we went to family gatherings. So yes, it's personal, but Cranes are also a symbol of honour, good fortune, loyalty and longevity, all great foundations for any family and that is why we are called Paper Crane Ceremonies.
We're all about you and your bespoke, tailormade ceremony, be it your wedding, your vow renewal, your children's naming or your own new beginning. We'll be there for you every step of the way to craft and deliver a perfect ceremony script that's all about what matters to you.
Paper Crane Ceremonies loves celebrating life and family, be it traditional, quirky, funny, relaxed or a bit more formal. At our heart are the important people in your world and that is what we mean by family.
We believe in working closely and empathetically with our clients to ensure we deliver a top notch day with lots of smiles and laughter along the way.
Your celebrant
Hello there, my name's Laura Dunning. I'm very lucky to live in the inspirational Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. I love nothing better then walking the dog in the hills and taking in nature at her most magnificent. When I’m not out and about, I’m at home listening to some inspirational tunes to help me find the perfect words to write your ceremony.
I'm a very proud mum to 2 adult kids and have loved watching them fledge in to amazingly strong and independent people. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, with whom I share a passion for music (he's on guitar and I'm on drums!) and we love messing about with classic cars. When I'm not making lots of noise or getting down and dirty I'm a real creative at heart, anything for crafty exploits, home bakes or putting up a garden shed.
That's enough about me. What I'm totally fascinated by is other people's stories and I can't wait to hear yours...
your ceremony
Great decision! You’ve decided to have your very special ceremony, be it your wedding, baby naming or wedding vow renewal. You want your ceremony to be special, fun, intimate, inclusive and individual. Tailor-made to reflect you and what you stand for.
As an independent celebrant I can craft something that reflects your values and beliefs, it's all about you and what's important in your world. Not sure what that looks like right now - no problem - I've got loads of ideas to bring your ceremony to life. A simple ring exchange is brilliant, but what about a tree planting, a handfasting, or a sand ceremony as starters for ten?
Whether you're looking for a lavish Lord of the Rings, themed wedding or a small traditional vibe that’s special and fresh, in a lush hotel or simply in your back garden. Working out the how and the what is part of the fun!

blog: Wedding planning scary?
Congratulations you're engaged! You’ve told friends and family and now the wedding planning starts - YIKES! Where do you start? So begins possibly months of worry about putting on the perfect wedding. Which venue? what's the best time of day? how much will it cost? do we need wedding cars? making sure everyone is happy, that all dietary requirements are catered for, is the venue accessible?, who will sit with Aunt Mable and will she behave herself? (unlike last time!). The dress? The cake? Bridesmaids? Groomsmen? Speeches? The list of worries in endless…STOP!
I've said it before and I will continue to say it over and over again - it's your wedding, your way! So firstly you need to work out what that looks and feels like. Sit down with your fiancé (that sounds so fab when you say it out loud eh?) and work out what you both want from your day, lavish, low key, lively or just plain lovely. When you've sorted the 'vibe' out the rest will follow. You can get loads of ideas from websites liked Hitched and magazines or wedding blogs.Use the ideas to create a storyboard of all your favourite things, it will help to focus your mind.
It may be boring, but I'm going to mention the B word - budget! Set your budget to meet your means and keep to it, so many couples I speak to say their biggest concern is cost. Yes, weddings can costs tens of thousands, but they can also cost very little and still be just as beautiful and meaningful, you just have to be honest with yourself, don’t be scared to ask for a best price or consider a DIY wedding - my own wedding was a real family affair, the wedding dress, decorations, bouquet, favours, cake were all made by friends and family for just the cost of raw materials and it looked amazing.
Trusted friends and family are a good source of support and if you're thinking a wedding planner or wedding celebrant might be the order tothe day then lean on them too, they have loads of experience and ideas to draw upon. They will also provide you with that unconditional listening ear you'll undoubtedly need from time to time.
In summary, have fun planning your wedding, let your personalities shine through. You only have to please yourselves, it's your day, your way after all - there, I said it again!
